Sole Survivor Series: Nahant Celtics vs Atom Cats
Game 3: Road Win Lifts Atom to 3-0 Lead in SSS
The Atom Cats are one game away from a sweep of the Nahant Celtics after a road win at The Wharf at Nahant, 3-2. Cats right-hander Mesquite Williams had a strong outing. He threw 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball. Atom now holds a 3-0 advantage in the best-of-7 Sole Survivor Series.
Joe Brocflower had a direct impact on the outcome. Brocflower contributed a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to put Atom up, 3-0.
Williams called the win "a collective effort."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Wharf at Nahant in Nahant.
Game 4: Shooterson Blasts Cats, Celtics Take Game 4, 4-2
On the verge of being swept and facing a red-hot Atom Cats team, the Nahant Celtics had a tough assignment. Bulleye Shooterson delivered.
The Celtics first baseman was unstoppable for the visitors, as he was 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once in guiding his club to its first victory of the series, 4-2. Shooterson, 31, earned accolades for his efforts. The win means Nahant now trails 3-1 in the best-of-7 series.
Shooterson contributed in the bottom of the third. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a run-scoring single. It was one at-bat among others that helped Nahant get the win.
"Every time I go up there, I try and hit a ball hard," said Shooterson.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Wharf at Nahant in Nahant.
Game 5: Nahant Wins at Home to Narrow Series Deficit to 3-2
Zane Zorro was not about to watch an opponent celebrate a championship on his home field.
The right-hander pitched the Nahant Celtics to victory at The Wharf at Nahant, staving off the Atom Cats, who remain one game away from a title. Zorro threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. The win cuts the series deficit for the Celtics to 3-2 in the best-of-7 series.
Zorro gave Nahant a solid start. The right-hander allowed no runs on 4 hits over 7 innings.
"I'm happy we won," said Zorro. "That's first and foremost. My goal is for the team to win the day I pitch, however it's done."
Game 6 is scheduled for Friday at Coolest Field in Town in Atom Cats Garage.
