International Amateurs
We just completed our monthly private practice with many young international amateur free agents who we hope can aid our club in the coming years. It was great to meet the players in-person and get to know them better, and I was able to improve my scouting assessment on all invitees.
In fact some of the players impressed me, since they showcased a higher potential than I had previously expected from them:
Juan Galindo, 16 year-old CF out of Venezuela
Lean and athletic, Juan Galindo hails from Los Dos Caminos, Venezuela. He is projected to provide well above average defense. He is a plus runner. Once he fully develops he should have enough be an above average power hitter. Galindo could be a second-division starter.
Jorge Velasco, 16 year-old SS out of Venezuela
Jorge Velasco is a long, lean athletic shortstop who was born in Ejido, Venezuela. He has an above average ability to put the ball in play and get hits. The power is more a projection right now, but he has above average power potential. Velasco profiles as an above average player.
It was a great practice and none of the invitees disappointed in showcasing their talent.
