International Amateurs
We just completed our monthly private practice with many young international amateur free agents who we hope can aid our club in the coming years. It was great to meet the players in-person and get to know them better, and I was able to improve my scouting assessment on all invitees.
In fact some of the players impressed me, since they showcased a higher potential than I had previously expected from them:
Juan Esquivel, 16 year-old C out of Dominican Republic
Lean and athletic, Juan Esquivel hails from San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic. He has plus power potential. He projects to be an above average contact hitter. He should make pitchers work to get him out. Esquivel has the dynamic tools needed to make an impact in the majors.
Juan Sintos, 16 year-old 2B out of Cuba
Lean and athletic, Juan Sintos hails from San Cristóbal, Cuba. He has the power potential of a prototypical home run slugger. He is quiet and focused, with a repeatable swing and a line-drive approach. As he matures he is expected to provide above average defensive value. Sintos could develop into a productive regular on a contending team.
It was a great practice and none of the invitees disappointed in showcasing their talent.
