It is the second in a four game set against the Padres.
We got thumped yesterday.
Today the Padres are pitching Jake Carter (1-0, 2.25).
The Giants have Rod Nichols (1-6, 4.22).
I am hitting sixth.
I came up in the 1st with two out and the bases loaded.
I grounded out.
I handled a Chad Curtis grounder for the 2nd out in the 3rd.
I came up in the 4th with Jerry Browne on 1st. I drove one up the middle for a single, sending Jerry to 3rd. I went to 2nd on the play on Jerry.
Tim Naehring walked to load the bases, still with none out.
Jerry was thrown out at home on a fielder's choice by Alan Cockrell.
I scored on a sac fly by Rod.
Giants lead 1-0
I caught a Dickie Thon pop for the 2nd out in the 5th.
I came up in the bottom of the 5th with two out, Bryce Bernadin on 3rd, and Jerry on 1st.
Another single to centre, scoring Bryce and sending Jerry to 3rd.
We were stranded.
Giants lead 2-0
In the 6th, Curtis scored on a Tony Gwynn groundout.
Giants lead 2-1
Mark Ross took over for us in the 7th.
Bill Pecota and Eric Young scored on a pinch hit double by Charlie Hayes, giving San Diego the lead.
Hayes then scored on a Curtis single.
Padres lead 4-2
Jeff Russell took eh ball for us in the 8th.
The second batter he faced turned into an Orlando Merced two run homer.
Padres lead 6-2
I led off the bottom of the 8th, now facing Jimmy Jones. I flew out to Merced in right.
I caught a Curtis liner for the 3rd out in the 9th.
We couldn't score in the bottom half and took another L.
I went 2 for 4 with a pair of singles, an RBI, and a run scored.
We are tied with the Dodgers in the NL West basement... and the entire NL basement.
