Baker Supplies Juice in Kansas City Win

The 6-1 Kansas City win over Montreal was due largely to Adam Baker. The Royals right fielder was 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 and driving in 4. The Expos fall to 6-11 and continue their sputtering start to the 2021 season.

With Kansas City leading 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth, Baker hit a fastball from Chris Ball for a grand slam home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Royals ahead, 6-1. The rookie moved to .197-1-9 .547OPS in 17 games.

Kansas City manager Ryan Johnson praised his team's "businesslike approach."

Montreal Splits Series with 7-4 Win Over KCR

Montreal shortstop Jose Robles played a vital role in his team's 7-4 conquest of Kansas City. He was 3 for 3 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 for Montreal. The third-year pro is batting .173-1-5 .511OPS -0.3WAR in 18 games.

"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Robles.

, who led the EL in saves with 44 in 2018, nailed down the save. The loss drops the Royals to 12-6.

Montreal used the timely hitting of Dan Cook to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Expos on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer. The switch-hitter has had a strong start, batting .312-2-10 .891OPS in 18 games.

Canales Leads Eagles to Win to Close April

Eagles center fielder Francisco Canales left his mark on his team's 8-3 win over the Montreal Expos. Canales, who is tied for 5th in the EL in triples with 1, was 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for Cincinnati in the contest. He is batting .329-2-12 .889OPS in 20 games.

Cincinnati pitcher Grant Richie got the win. He's now 1-0. Adrian Hilscher was tagged with the loss. Cincinnati, with the win, is 14-6.

Nicolá Gardini helped his team jump on top from the get-go. His first time up in the top of the first, he cranked a 2-run single to give Cincinnati a 2-0 lead.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Gardini. He went 2-5 with three RBI’s.
