Have you ever had a Pitcher as League MVP?
I just finished a season in my fictional 12 team league and it's a 132 game schedule so a good Starting Pitcher can make a huge difference. I just had a guy put up some crazy good numbers that led the league is almost every relevant category to include the highest WAR in the league.
His stats:
Games Started 30: most in league
Wins 21: most in league
IP 239.1: most in league, next closest is 210
K's 161: most in league, next closest is 130
ERA 2.29: next lowest amongst SP with at least 15 starts is 2.62
Opponents AVG .214: next lowest was .217
WHIP 1.06: next lowest was 1.10
HR/9 0.2: next lowest is 0.4
BB/9 2.1: lowest was 1.9
K/9 6.7: leader was 6.9
ERA+ 152: next highest was 136
FIP 2.42: next lowest was 2.65
WAR 7.2: next highest was 4.7
From a Batter's perspective the highest WAR was 6.4 and the second highest was 4.5.
Basically the Pitcher just dominated the league so does he deserve the League MVP?
The batter played CF and was second in the league in Zone Rating but only played in 118 games due to missing two weeks with an injury.
Decisions, decisions...
