How did their respective teams do? Otherwise just by the numbers yeah the Pitcher deserves it. Even though we look at other stats, getting the triple crown still matters.
Run a backup and see what the AI decides, though I suspect they would pick the batter. I've really only seen a pitcher win it if they were a two way player, then they tend to win it too often.
