CBA Playoffs - Commonwealth Championship: Salem Shadows vs Airport Aviators

Game 1: Salem 111 at Airport 121 - Airport leads 1-0

DA Forte lifted the CBA's top team, scoring 31, dishing out 5 assists, gathering 13 rebounds, blocking 3 shots, and stealing 3 more balls en route to the Aviators' 121-111 victory over Salem in Game 1.

The Aviators used a stong third quarter, outscoring Salem 36-25 in the quarter to take over the game. The Shadows led 56-55 at halftime.

Licker Sam Arnold led the Shadows in scoring, scoring 28 points to go with 15 rebounds and 9 assists. Jamal Pleick added 25 and JB Letterhead added 22.

Six Airport players scored in double figures. In addition to Forte, top scorers were BB Whiteman (21), Marcus Greene (17), Brick Watson (16), Fickle Fitzpatrick (14), and Melvin Strong (10). Only four Shadows scored in double figures. Arick Lurk Hunter added 11.



Game 2: Salem 100 at Airport 124 - Airport leads 2-0

The Airport Aviators took control early and led most of the game, cruising to an easy 124-100 victory over the Salem Shadows in Game 2 of the Commonwealth Championship. The Aviators now lead 2-0 as we head to Salem for the next two games.

DA Forte again led the team, this time scoring 52 points and adding 20 rebounds in the rout. Forte also had 6 assists, 3 blocks, and 2 steals. All five starers scored in double digits with BB Whiteman second on th team with 18. Fickle Fitzpatrick joined in the double-double, scoring 13 and grabbing 11 rebounds.

Salem was led in scoring by JB Letterhead with 31. Four players scored in double figures. Licker Sam Arnold was held to just 12 points but did get a triple-double with 12 rebounds and 10 assists. Letterhead led the team with 11 assists.



NEBA Playoffs - New England Championship: Jamaica Plain Thunderbirds vs Nuka World Wheelz

Game 2: Jamaica Plain 110 at Nuka World 121 - Nuka World wins 2-0

The Nuka World Wheelz completed a two-game sweep of the Jamaica Plain Thunderbirds, 121-110, in Bradberton. Topper Robinson (25 points, 12 rebounds) again garnered game MVP honors, leading the Wheelz to the first-ever NEBA title.

The Wheelz had six players hit double figures in scoring. In addition to Robinson, sixth man Antonio Colacaps scored over 20 with 21 points. Wacky Wally Walker added 16.

For the Thunderbirds, Steady Scott Marks led the team in scoring with 33, He finished with a triple-double by adding 10 rebounds and 12 assists, both also leading Jamaica Plain. Slouch Williams was second in scoring for the T-Birds with 18.

The champion Wheelz are affiliated with the CBA's Boston Bugles, while Jamaica Plain is affiliated with Airport. Other team affiliations in the NEBA are:

Cambridge - Manchester Metros
Con-Lex - Brockton Spartans
Medford - Portland Irish
Quincy - Plymouth Sea Dogs
Salem - Concord Colonels
Southie - Sandwich Royals

Only Manchester and Sandwich of the affiliated teams missed the NEBA playoffs.
