Nice trade! We'll see you Saturday!

But the important question is…when, oh, when, will Trevor Lewis finally get his Silver Stick ceremony??

For those who haven't been following this (practically everyone), perennial Unsung Hero Award winner (so much that the players renamed the Award in his honor when he left and now have disqualified him from winning it again that he's back, since once they actually call it The Trevor Lewis Unsung Hero Award, what's the point Lewis winning it, again?) Lewis was closing in on his 1000th career game…when he got hurt in game #999 back on November 30.

So the Kings (who are really good at ceremonies, you may recall…we got Hollywood skillz, yo!) had to push back the planned ceremony until Lewis actually played his 1000th game, which he did on January 5th. The ceremony was promptly scheduled for January 7th, before the Kings faced Calgary…but had to be scrubbed when the L.A.-Flames matchup was cancelled due to actual L.A. Flames.

The Kings then went on a 5-game trip of Western Canada (well, Seattle qualifies as Canada to some, perhaps) and came home this past week. However, the first game (where the Kings had a really bad case of the First Game Home blues, understandably) was dedicated to honoring the First-Responders, so Trevor's ceremony would have been inappropriate, and the other home game (where the team rallied past the Panthers in the 3rd) was on TNT, and you can't ask a national TV telecast to conform with your special events (and we'd want the ceremony shown on local TV, with Kings announcers hosting, anyhow.)

So now the Kings are back on the road for another five games, and Trevor still doesn't have his Silver Stick. Next opportunity would be when the Kings come back on February 5th against Montreal, but who knows.

At this point, perhaps Lewis and the club want to wait until after the 4-Nations break, as the Kings' next game sees them hosting the Utah Ukeleles (or whatever they're called by then) and what with Trevor being The Greatest Hockey Player from Utah, EVER, perhaps he'd like the ceremony to broadcast back home to the Beehive State.

We wait and see. At this point, I won't be shocked if the Utah game gets canceled due to a swarm of bees…

(The Kings will eventually get all these road games back; 22 of the final 32 are at home. Of course the last time the schedule worked like this was in 2020, when the rebuilding Kings had FINALLY gotten their stuff together and were on a League-high 7-game win streak…and then COVID came to town and all those lovely home games ended up being cancelled instead. Just saying.)
