Magnificent colorization of McClellan, thank you so much.
Pitching participant in perhaps the most amazing pitching duel in baseball history. Two 28 year olds Joe Oeschger of the Braves and Leon Cadore of the Dodgers battled for all 26 innings in an uncompleted game.
In the fifth inning the Dodgers took a 1-0 lead but the Braves equalised in the sixth inning and then no more scoring. At one point Oeschger retired 18 straight and Cadore 15 straight. Braves second-baseman Charlie Pick emerged from the encounter with the dubious distinction of going 0 for 11.
Approaching 4 hours from the commencement of the game, dark clouds and mist presented batters with a severe problem and the game was called. Oeschger won 20 games the following season but Cadore who battled more stressful situations stated that his arm was never the same.
Here is an image of Cadore with the 1924 Giants.
