The way we handle it, WAR is a calculated value. So we don't actually store a WAR value, we always calculate it on the fly based on the stats that are given. Even if a player sits out for a day, their WAR can change, just because the current season league stats might shift the average a little.
We do store past season park factors to be able to calculate. That's so we can actually calculate past WAR based on the actual park that season, if you change a team from Colorado to SD this year it shouldn't impact previous calculations.
