Finishing a two game set in Atlanta, trying to salvage a split and break our six game losing streak.
The Braves are pitching Jimmy Key (7-5, 3.15).
The Giants have Rod Nichols (1-6, 3.99).
I am in my now customary 7th spot.
I led off the 3rd by taking a walk.
Then Alan Cockrell also walked.
Rod laid down a perfect sac bunt to put us both into scoring position.
I scored on a Mark Lewis sac fly.
Giants lead 1-0
I took care of a Ron Gant grounder for the final out in the inning.
I next came up with one out in the 5th and popped out to Jim Thome at 3rd.
Alan followed me with a home run.
Giants lead 2-0
In the bottom of the 5th, Gant tied it up with a two-run homer.
Game tied 2-2
I came up in the 7th with Craig Grebeck on 1st. I drew another walk.
We got no further.
Bryan Hickerson relieved for us in the bottom of the 7th.
With two out in the 8th, Matt brought in Mark Ross.
I came up with two out in the 9th, now facing Duane Ward. I grounded out to Jeff Blauser at short.
Jeff Russell took the ball for us in the bottom of the 9th, with Mark Lewis shifting from 1st to 3rd and Shawon Dunston taking over at 1st.
Handled a Scott Servais grounder for the 1st out in the bottom of the 10th.
With a man on 1st and two out in the inning, Matt went to Ted Power.
He got the 3rd out.
I took care of a Jeff Bagwell grounder for the 1st out in the bottom of the 11th.
Gene Larkin reached on an error by Shawon and they made all the difference as he cored on a single by Randy Ready with two outs, gibing Atlanta the walk off win.
Seven losses in a row for us.
I went 0 for 2 with a pair of walks and a run scored.
Now we head to San Diego.
