In his last spring training start, Elliott tore his UCL and is out for the year. He hadn't been injury prone, this was his first trip to the DL in 8 years. He has 2 years at $1.1 million a year after this season, hopefully he can come back.
He was our ace, he led the NL in ERA last year. Our trade for Andy Hawkins looks like a very important move. He basically replaces Elliott as we were going to move our 5th starter Mike Morgan back to the pen, but he will fill the 5th starter role again, at least to start the season.
