CBA Draft

The first CBA Draft was held last night with 16 new players in circulation in the CBA. Below, we have each team's pick and 1st-round player's scouting report.

1st Round

1. Cambridge - PF Sniper Armstrong, Bunker Hill U - Pure shooter, good at crashing the glass, excellent FT shooter, OK handling and distributing the ball, makes good decision with the ball, good defender with disrupting shots and grabbing rebounds, one of the most athletic in the draft

2. Con-Lex - SF Book Smart Denson, Harvard - Great open shooter, good at blocking shots, below average FT shooting, sees court well but needs work to pass to the right spot, needs some work as a defensive player, hard worker who trains his body well and can get significant minutes

3. Boston - PF RaShawn Bergman, New England U - Good shooter, prefers post play, good FT shooter but needs work on drawing fouls, loose ball champion with lots of hustle, long arms help defend in post, solid build makes him a stronger player in the league, better at catch and shoot than handling the ball, may need to work more on anticipation of opponents; shots

4. Quincy - SF Burrow Cromer, SNHU - A bit of a surprise pick at this position. Great FT shooter, forces too many shots and does not pick high-percentage shots enough, not a great rebounder for a big man, hardly catches awry passes by the opponent

5. Medford - C Cleveland Brooker, Coastal U - Good shot mechanics but too many straight-line shots, has mid-range on shots, needs better angles on FT shooting but has mechanics to improve, rebounding champion who loves physicality inside, shot-blocking champion, great stamina for a big man, sometimes careless when handling ball, could be best player in the 2314 Draft

6. Salem - C Tiny Tommy Tarberry, Dartmouth - decent ball handling helps him drive the lane for layups and dunks, good FT shooter, solid rebounder, good defender, good teammate, needs to speed up release on shots in the CBA, needs to work on reflexes when going up on shot block attempts

7. Southie - C Roomy Chris McCoy, WCSU - tall and wide, dunker, better than average FT shooter, decent ball handler but will not do much of that in CBA, showed major improvement last season of college to drive up stock, solid court awareness, good stamina, not much range on shots, not a good passer so once gets ball he needs to shoot the ball, needs to rely more on jump skills than trying to box out multiple players, forgets high jumping ability on shot blocks

8. Airport - SG Vroom Hand, Providence - good touch on shot, solid FT shooter, decent at passing and ball handling but will never be a PG, likes to drive with the ball, needs improvement on shooting mechanics, will probably get buried on Aviators depth chart

2nd Round
9. Con-Lex - PF Brian Payton, Mass Bay U
10. Cambridge - SF Flemmy Fleming, Southern Conn
11. Boston - PF Camera Cook, Endicott U
12. Quincy - PG XMan McColpin, Boston College
13. Medford - PG Nighty Night Robinson, Acadia College
14. Con-Lex - SF Tricky Kevin West, Fitchburg State
15. Southie - PG Easy Money Freight, New Hampshire U
16. Airport - PF Andrea Hartfield, Tufts
