The July 1 Super Post

CBO Players of the Month

NCA Hitter - To Babs Rooth, age is just a number.

He may be 35 years old, but the County Crossing Bloodbugs right fielder proved in June that he's still got what it takes to compete at an elite level.

With a .418 average, 10 home runs, 25 RBIs, and 24 runs scored, Rooth had all the numbers that counted and has won the North Charles Association Batter of the Month award.

Rooth is hitting .313 for the season with 15 home runs, 45 RBIs and 48 runs scored. He has 72 hits in 230 at-bats and played in 69 games.

SCA Hitter - Glowing Sea Radscorpions fans believe they've got a talented young star in Enigma Montgomery.

He did nothing to dissuade that notion in June, as he hit .444 with 8 home runs, 20 RBIs and 21 runs scored.

The end result was the center fielder being named the South Charles Association Batter of the Month.

This year, Montgomery has hit 16 home runs and posted a .385 batting average.

NCA Pitcher - Chris Teddybear dazzled opponents on his way to the North Charles Association Pitcher of the Month award for June.

Posting a 5-0 record and a 1.34 ERA, the Salem Witch Hats starter held opposing hitters to a .210 batting average while striking out 26 in 40.1 innings and giving up 11 walks.

In 18 starts this year, Teddybear has posted 8 wins while suffering 2 losses. He has pitched 100 innings, allowed 90 hits, struck out 63 and has a 3.24 ERA.

SCA Pitcher - Kennett Kentucky of the FHE Yao Guai was on top of his game the entire month of June, capping it off with the South Charles Association Pitcher of the Month honors.

He was outstanding in 6 starts with 5 wins and no losses, 37.2 IP, 23 strikeouts and a fine 2.39 ERA.

His record this season is 8-4 in 19 starts and Kentucky has a 3.91 ERA.

NCA Rookie - Miko Miko earned June's Rookie of the Month honors in the North Charles Association for last month's performance. The boyish Bunker Hill third baseman might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Miko hit .448 with 3 home runs, 16 RBIs and 15 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

This year, Miko has collected a .402 batting average to date with 98 hits in 244 at-bats, 42 RBIs, 10 home runs and scored 41 times. He has played in 69 games.

SCA Rookie - Youngster Donovan Mackey emerged as the latest South Charles Association Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Spectacle Island deserved the honor, batting .360 with 5 home runs and 27 RBI. Is the month of June a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Mackey enjoy the limelight.

For the year, Mackey has hit at a .339 clip with 38 RBIs, 11 home runs and 40 runs scored.

CBO Top Performances

Hitter - Sheedy Smith, Jamaica Plain, 151 - This is probably the one, the performance that will be the top performance of the year. On June 7, Jamaica Plain rookie Sheedy Smith surpassed his May top performance by launching four out of the park. The performance score of 151 topped Smith's previous high of 137. In the 11-2 victory over Southie, Smith was 5 for 5 with four home runs, four runs scored, and nine RBI. His four homers and nine RBI tied two SCA records. The last SCA player with four homers was Diamond City's Ani Waalk in 2310, and the last player to knock in nine runs was Barker Cocoa of University Point in 2307. Fort Hagen's Andrew Nuka set the CBO record high of 11 in 2304. Smith's four-home run performance is the fifth time in CBO history. Dusty Brownell of Concord did it twice.

Pitcher - Ty Gibbs, Malden, 94 - Malden's Ty Gibbs has the best performance in June and on the season with a game score of 94 in a 1-0 loss to Salem in 10 innings on June 7. While Gibbs had a no-decision, he pitched nine innings of one-hit ball, walking two and striking out 11. Gibbs' performance just beat out the Silver Shroud's Sarthis Idren, who had a game score of 91 in April.

YL Hitter - It's perhaps an award he'll win many more times through his career, as at age 21 Waterbug Grant has a lot of baseball ahead of him.

But for now the young Braintree Robobrains star can enjoy the numbers he put up in June, which have garnered him the nod as the Yankee League Batter of the Month.

That's why he was voted the Stars League Pitcher of the Month.

Robles throttled league hitters the whole month with an impressive 6-0 mark and 2.42 ERA in 6 starts. The Tricentennials star hurler also rung up 41 strikeouts in 48.1 innings.
