Removing that league is the biggest feature change in years, and it’s a negative one that destroyed in-progress leagues. Com2Us even has the license for an upcoming game, Professional Baseball Rising. These main features look like re-skins. The biggest feature that’s come out in years is pro-rel, which I don’t know if you’ve tried but the implementation isn’t the greatest or most customizable. Live Start is the last feature that truly made a difference to the real game. Sure, the engine improves, and they’ve added a couple ratings. There’s nothing tangible saying the engine is better, trade AI definitely isn’t better, and they decided to move away from DIPS (arguable whether it’s good or not). Development is hard, but this game came out with excellent features Y/Y. There were supposed to be more after the acquisition, but it’s arguable a non-vandalized OOTP 23 was a better experience than 25. It was far easier to excuse when it wasn’t owned by a bigger studio, love the work Markus and Matt (among others) put in to create the game today. I’m very open to listening if I am very wrong here.
Let me go through the feature list for the last few games:
25:
Main Features—Ratings Overhaul, Dev Lab, Development change
Broken for at least the first 3 months if still not broken.
Dev lab basically already existed, but you could now personalize it. Arguably not even good strategy to use, creates development events that cause unshown regression. Progress basically a red herring.
Best feature added: Stealing Aggressiveness rating
24:
Main Features—PBABIP, Strange IAFA change, Owner Goals, Trade changes
PBABIP is a bodge, IAFA is a meaningless chore that won’t properly run for online leagues, owner goals don’t work well or in online leagues, trading AI still bizarre and not remotely playable on beyond the hardest difficulty favoring prospects.
Best feature: Hard mode trading, adds mild challenge but shows how broken the “fair AI” is. Was pretty much already in the game, but still a nice add.
23:
Main Features—Tutorials, new shop players, long-term daily lineups, LEAGUE REMOVAL
Yikes.
Best feature: Waypoints before they worked, Live start as intended.
22:
Main Features—Coach roles, cohesion visible, KBO license
Even if it wasn’t tedious, there’s no real decision making here and it basically existed already.
