NWL: Reg. Season Ends with Victory-Cherry on Top
For the majority of the Nuka World League ballclubs, they will have to wait until next year to make the playoffs. They missed their chance this year and will be spending the offseason living the good life and also getting ready for next year, when hope always springs eternal. But for a few select teams, they are still in the hunt. They have made the playoffs. This is their day in the sun. This is their chance to win league championship. This is their moment of fame and glory. This is their chance to win the Nuka Series.
Playoff baseball generates a reaction in every fan. To the fan of the perennial loser, it's a time to moan again about their team's misfortune. To the fan whose club defines success by the number of Nuka Series championship trophies lining their clubhouse walls, anything short of the ultimate victory is a disaster. This is playoff baseball. Baseball lovers can't help but be consumed by it in some way or another. There is nothing better than playoff baseball. These Nuka Series battles will unfold later today:
Victory Cave Crickets vs Cherry Ghoulrillas.
APL: Red Rocket-Grandchester in APS
Another Amusement Park League campaign is in the books. The regular season has ended and the playoffs are about to begin. It is a time of skill, talent -- and luck. And when all the games have been played, one team will survive and be crowned the 2314 Amusement Park Series champion.
What months ago was a dream is now reality.
The trade deadline has passed, along with all the GMs' wheeling and dealing. Contract negotiations are on hold. Front office work is all put on the back burner. Now it's time for each club, player, coach and manager to put their imprint on Amusement Park League history. Nobody will remember the free agent who got away. No one will care about the trade that fell through. People will remember just one thing about the playoffs -- the team that wins the Amusement Park Series crown.
The Amusement Park Series starts today with these matchups:
Grandchester Flying Ants (Cherry) vs Red Rocket Radrats (Grape).

VL: Gulpers-Acadians to meet in Vim! Series
Another regular season is in the books, and the playoffs will begin in a couple of days. It will be a battle of survival -- and the final survivor will be the Vim! League champions. The "haves" will be in their radiant glory, playing for the league title, while the "have-nots" will be at home, sitting by the hot stove until springtime.
Playoff baseball is a special time of year. General managers who have struggled all year to steer their club to the promised land love it as they make those final, pivotal roster selections going into the Vim! Series. For them, this is an elusive, exciting, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to win the Vim! League Vim! Series. The playoff docket begins with these games today:
National Park Gulpers vs Acadia Acadians.
MDIL: Actors vs Shipwrecks for Finale
The 2314 season has come to a close and the playoffs will commence in a few days. The qualifying teams are gearing up for the so-called "second season" that determines the Mount Desert Island League title. Soon there will be only two clubs left in the running, and they will be matched up in the Mount Desert Island Series. Then there will be only one -- the new league champions.
A playoff baseball game has a surreal atmosphere. Fans become one, roaring in unison at a great play and sharing the grief at blown opportunity. Victory and defeat play out in a rainbow of colors, sounds, smells and feelings. Mount Desert Island League playoff baseball is a memorable experience. What is it like? Ask the 10-year-old sitting with his dad as he plucks a foul ball out of the air. Ask the veteran slugger who hits that walk-off home run. Ask the manager in the big game after coming from 10 games back to win the pennant. Ask the countless number of legends who have flourished or those greats who never won the big one. Or tomorrow, ask any of the rookies what it's like to play in one of the Mount Desert Island Series showdowns:
MS Azalea Shipwrecks (Acadia) vs Cliff's Edge Actors (Cranberry Island).
