A nice way to close out the series, as pitcher Ralph Caldwell kept the home team in check with the Boston Americans (8-3) scoring a 5 to 1 victory over the New York Highlanders (5-6).

Boston pitcher Ralph Caldwell (3-0) had a fine game in which he allowed just 1 earned run on 5 hits and 2 walks in the 114-pitch outing; Game Score 73. Barney Wolfe (0-3) was tagged with the loss after he served up 5 earned runs on 9 hits and 6 walks in 6 2/3 innings of play; Game Score 35. Jack Taylor was called upon for 1 1/3 innings in which he allowed a harmless hit before turning the ball over to Christy Mathewson for a final scoreless inning of play.

The Americans' bats were alive today, led by Jesse Hoffmeister (3 for 4, 2 Runs, RBI, Walk), Frank Chance (2 for 5, 3 RBIs), and Chick Stahl (2 for 3, Double, Run, 2 Walks). The Highlanders' limited offense was generated by Jimmy Bannon (1 for 2, Triple, Run, 2 Walks, Stolen Base).
