August 9: Off-Day.
August 10: at St. Louis 1-2 L (6). LP-Gasser (9-7, 5 4 2 2 0 5). The Rays were done dirty by the weather, forcing an early end to their game in St. Louis despite trailing only by a run.
August 11: at St. Louis 10-6 W. WP-McClanahan (13-3, 6 6 4 4 2 6). HR-C.Williams (12), Morel (28). A wild one that was 7-4 in the 4th as the Rays amassed 18 hits led by Williams who was 2-4 with a homer and 3 RBI.
August 12: at St. Louis 3-4 L. LP-Springs (1-2, 6 8 3 3 0 3). HR-Caminero (20). Rays rallied to score two in the 8th but couldn't finish the deal as they dropped another series.
August 13: vs Baltimore 3-8 L. LP-Bradley (9-8, 5 6 6 6 2 7). HR-C.Williams (13). Taj was hit hard for the third straight start, allowing16 runs in 13.1 IP over that stretch as the Rays dropped the opener of what they'd hope would be a put-away series against the Orioles.
August 14: vs Baltimore 1-6 L. LP-H.Smith (12-5, 4.2 3 3 3 4 5). HR-Caminero (21). The August swoon continues for the Rays as they drop to 3-8 on the month and have seen Baltimore creep within 8 games of the division lead.
August 15: vs Baltimore 4-0 W. WP-Gasser (10-7, 6 1 0 0 4 6). Gasser and three relievers combined on a 2-hit shutout as the Rays stopped the rot and salvaged the finale to re-establish a 9-game lead in the division. J.Lowe led off the game with a triple and scored as they got to old friend Shane Baz for 4 runs on 8 hits in 5 innings.
Team record: 73-44. Next week: The homestand continues with 3 against Houston and 3 against Arizona separated by an off-day.
