Season 6
Post Season
American League Championship Series
Cardinals Peak At Perfect Time
They Wrestle Pennant From Dodgers In Seven

Often times it is the team that has a fight to even get to the post season to is better prepared from it then the side that coasted on its way there. The 1985 St. Louis Cardinals shook off underdog labels and overcame the 100 win 2016 Los Angeles Dodgers in 7 hard fought game to take the American League flag.
St. Louis took the first two games of the series on the West Coast and took a commanding 3 games to 1 lead in game 4 aftet they hammered Alex Wood for the second time. Clayton Kershaw brought the Dodgers back holding off the Cards in game five and preventing a home celebration. In game six it even looked like the Dodgers were going to make it all the way back as they took game six with a two run eighth inning and a Kanley Jansen save.
Game seven was the crossroads for Whitey and the Cardinals. Did they have enough resolve to win a tough series like this one? A five run third inning saw Alex Wood once again fall victim to St. Louis while Danny Cox and an array of Cardinal arms made sure game seven had no drama at all and in the end this St. Louis team had their crown.
Andy Van Slyke had 10 RBI in the series and hit .520 while unheralded bat Mike Spanky Lavaliere had 9 RBI including a 4-4 game 2 performance stunning the Dodgers.
"All that matters is who is standing there in the end" said Van Slyke, who saved his very best baseball for the perfect time.
National League Championship Series
Red Sox Singing Tessie In Five Game Victory
Pirate Bats Silenced To Tune Of Boston Arms

Still missing their best player in Tris Speaker, the 1910 Boston Red Sox looked like a team with no other alternative then to win. Boston overwhelmed the 1906 Pirates and march into the World Series as the favorites to take it all.
The series was suppose to be a close one between two teams from the same era. Smoky Joe Wood set the tone in game one going nine innings and striking out 8 in a 9-1 win. Bill Carrigan lead the charge in a game two win to the singing voices of Huntington Grounds. And in game three, the Red Sox took the life out of the Pirates as they beat them at home to take a 3-0 lead embarrassing them in the process winning 13-3.
The Bucs did show some pride in avoiding the sweep and pitching themselves up in game four with a win. In game five however Ray Collins displayed his best stuff going the full nine innings and not allowing a single earned run as the Red Sox closed things out on their opponents field. Carrigan ended with 8 RBI while Jake Stahl hit two home runs. Still it was Boston pitching that frustrated and set the tone for the easy series win. Confidence for them is at its peak as the World Series beckons.
Honus Wagner and the Pirates lacked the extra glitz that they needed. Manager Fred Clarke admitted in the end that the Sox were more inspired and were more prepared to play and more prepared to win.
