Expansion....What if?
What if the Cape Cod Baseball League expanded?
That's what I'm going to add to this thread, possible expansion cities and towns on the Cape and a few off-Cape that could work and not dilute the charm that is quintessentially Cape Cod.
The criteria for expansion is simple. No duplicate towns on the Cape and any off-Cape suggestions have to make sense. Easy to say but hard to define, let's say when you see it you know.
The first two teams I'll be presenting are off-Cape and both exemplify the "make sense" idea.
Plymouth Pilgrims, now defunct from the New England College Baseball League (NECBL) would make a return. Even though not situated on the Cape, its location at the "shoulder" of the "arm" of the Cape and directly across Cape Cod Bay from Provincetown, makes it a perfect candidate for an expansion team.
Martha's Vineyard Sharks, currently in the NECBL, would make a perfect candidate for a move to the more prestigious CCBL. It's almost a no brainer as the Islands (Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket) are almost always included in conversations about the Cape. "Summer on the Cape and the Islands"
I do have fictional team created in Provincetown called the Long Point Lookouts, based on the lighthouse. I'll have that up soon. I keep going back and forth on the uniform.
And..... I have a name but not a good logo for it (if anyone wants to take a crack at it, hint hint) for another off-Cape team called the Carver Cranberry Kings. Known for its cranberry bogs and just south of Plymouth and close enough to the Cape.
Aaannddd.... if all you patient readers of this post have any suggestions, please share!
