MORGANTI HITS TWO HOMERS IN INTRA-PHILLY BATTLE
STAR CF CLUBS ROUND-TRIPPERS IN BACK-TO-BACK INNINGS AS QUAKER ST. POUNDS TIGER

PHILADELPHIA (June 14, 1872) – Tiger Social Club has looked much improved so far during their second season in the NBBO, but they have still proven to be no match for elder Philadelphia brethren Quaker State, as Q.S. moved to 3-0 in the first series of the season between the two with a big home win on Friday:

There were two players who each had four hits for Quaker State: multiple time All-Stars William Dickerson & Ned Morganti. It was Morganti who took Player of the Game honors thanks to some spectacular batting late:
• B2: Leadoff Single past 2B (SB, R)
• B2: Reached via Fielder’s Choice at 2B (RBI, R)
• B4: Pop Out to 2B
• B5: 1-run Single past 2B (R)
• B7: 3-RUN INSIDE THE PARK HOME RUN to RCF
• B8: SOLO INSIDE THE PARK HOME RUN to LF
• TOTAL: 4/6, 2 HR, 5 R, 6 RBI, SB, 10 TB, 111 GMSC
It was already a 13-3 game when he came to the plate during the bottom of the 7th, but Morganti decided to add to the excitement of the afternoon by hitting the first of his two Inside-the-Park Home Runs, a three-run shot that found its way through the gap in Right-center Field. He then hit another Inside-the-Park Home Run an inning later, this time hitting the ball over the head of the Left Fielder before sprinting around the bases.

Morganti is batting .347 (.878 OPS) with 39 RBI through 33 games, and it currently looks like he will be making his fourth All-Star Game appearance in five years when rosters are announced in July.
