1965 Angels, from a low-res version of the team's Perfect Photo team picture. I'll leave it on the list as "need better" for now.
With Cimoli I now have "LA" photos for everyone who played for the Angels in 1965. I'm curious about the possibility of finding 1965 Angels in a "CA" hat, though. I have CA photos of the entire 1965 Angels coaching staff and all 25 1965 Angels who also played for the team in 1966 and after. I'm more interested in the players who made their last Angels appearance in 1965.
Gene Autry announced that the team would immediately switch from their Los Angeles designation to California prior to the team's game against the Yankees on
September 2, thus making Whitey Ford the first pitcher to face the California Angels (there's some SABR trivia for you

). Of the 17 players whose Angels tenure ended in 1965, eight (Lou Clinton, Charlie Dees, Aubrey Gatewood, Joe Koppe, Barry Latman, Vic Power, Merritt Ranew and Dick Simpson) appeared in games after Autry's announcement.
Merkle mentioned a prototype hat that surfaced during the Detroit series in late August, but can anyone tell me when, if at all, the team wore "CA" hats during games, either before or after Autry's announcement? I know that the Angels were still wearing "LA" helmets (I'm not sure about caps) for Bert Campaneris's 9-position game on
08-Sep-1965. Is a 1965 "CA" photo for those eight players even possible? I have a "CA" photo of one of them--Aubrey Gatewood, but it was taken in 1966.
