TSIARIS STARS AS EXCELSIOR CLUBS KNICKERBOCKER
5X ALL-STAR PUTS UP FIVE HITS & FOUR RBI AS TEAM WINS AT HOME BY DOUBLE DIGITS

BROOKLYN (June 27, 1872) – Excelsior is going through another season of offensive issues in the APBL, but on Thursday afternoon they set those issues aside and easily defeated 2nd-place Knickerbocker at Carroll Park:

Of course, Jim Creighton (CG, 8 HA, 2 ER, 3 K – 1/2, 2 BB) took on a starring role in the eleven-run victory, but the Player of the Game was star Excelsior CF Obelix Tsiaris:
• B1: Single past SS off P. Daly (SB, R)
• B2: 2-run Double to RCF off P. Daly
• B4: Single past SS off P. Daly
• B5: 2-run Single past 2B off P. Daly
• B6: Single to CF off C. Bancroft
• B8: Line Out to 2B
• TOTAL: 5/6, 2B, 1 R, 4 RBI, SB, 6 TB
Both of Tsiaris’ two-run hits were the key points of Excelsior rallies, with his Double driving in the final runs of a three-run rally in the bottom of the 2nd and his Single sending in the last two of a five-run rally in the bottom of the 5th.

Also of note: Excelsior C Albert Goddard was 4/4 (all Singles) with one Run scored and two RBI.

Tsiaris is batting .364 (.855 OPS) exactly halfway through the season, with fifteen Extra-base Hits, two dozen RBI, sixteen Stolen Bases, and 2.0 WAR to his name. He looks likely to make his sixth All-Star Game when rosters are announced at the end of next month.
