Are you in full control of the team? My first guess is that the AI is in control of the roster moves and is making the changes.
You will want to check your Manager Options for that.
There is a search option in the top-right corner of your screen. This is the quickest way to find any specific players, but your Rosters & Transactions page is the best screen to get an overview of where everyone is in your organization.
