Rule of thumb is to always win or earn packs. Never buy them. Win packs in tournament or Perfect Draft play. Earn packs by logging in each day, completing missions, and getting Twitch drops for watching OOTP streams. There are plenty of affiliate streamers morning, noon, and night, and that will get you five packs per day. The official channel is worth another five packs, although you'll have to check the schedule since it's generally only once per day.
