I can be obsessive on expansion, but I only let established teams protect twelve players on their roster - plus anyone with less than three years MLB experience (the default setting for that). That yields a better pool of players to draft. It actually hurts the better, deeper, teams.
I also allow the expansion teams to participate in the amateur draft and to pick first.
I hae never understood why expansion teams have to suck by design. Why not allow a new city to have a competitive team?
Also, I have expansion team budgets that allow for signing free agents.
