In a surprising move, the
Miami Marlins placed LF/RF
Nick Schluter(28, 3*) on waivers. The 28-year old has hit .258 in limited action this season and .274-6-43 .716OPS 18/18SB in 117 games in AAA last season. Dave Gomes thinks he is as good as any outfielder we have so we put in a claim.
Alexander Homers Twice as Aeros Beat Expos, 3-2

Boston Aeros defeated the
Montreal Expos, 3-2, at Olympic Stadium.
Boston was led by two-time All-Star
Kurt Alexander, who slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice.
Patrick Kallemeyn, who is tied for 5th in the EL in wins with 5, was the winning pitcher. Over 5.2 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 6 hits, with 1 walk and 8 strikeouts.
Paul Ide earned the save for
Boston, his 10th.
Early in the game,
Alexander had a 2-run home run for
Boston. It was his 10th home run of the season and put the
Aeros on top, 2-0.
"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win,"
Alexander told the Boston Herald. He 2x Silver Slugger is batting .238-10-29 .764OPS 0.3WAR in 47 games.
The
Aeros bumped their record to 28-22 with this latest triumph.

Christian Cannata did his part in helping his team beat the
Montreal Expos, 3-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. In 5.2 innings,
Cannata surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said
Oakland manager Raul Quiles. Earning his 8th save of the year was
Danny Arauz.
Oakland took advantage of an error in the top of the sixth inning. The game was tied, 1-1, when
Brian Pfannenstiel hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the
Oaks in front, 2-1. A second rounder in 2014, he is batting .228-55-22 .640OPS -0.3WAR in 45 games.
