Good news! Manaea is out until "late May/early June"!

("Good news" in the sense that, this being the Mets, Manaea might have spontaneously combusted, instead.)

Kodai Ghost-Fork makes his first start of the season and Keith notes that he wasn't throwing the forkball much in spring training and he mostly pitched against minor-leaguers. Now some might argue that the Fish qualify as such, but when Xavier Edwards leads off with a double in the RF gap and Kyle Stowers follows by hitting one waaaaaay up the berm in CF before Kodai has even thrown a forkball, it's…not the best omen.

Kodai gets the #3 hitter on a grounder to Vientos, then throws Matt Mervis a forkball that Mervis smashes hard behind 1B…but Peeeeeete makes a nice diving stop and throws to Senga, covering, for the out.

The SNY truck is so excited that they start playing the "end of the inning" music…even though this is only out #2. It's going to be one of those games, isn't it? Sigh.

(Kodai does get the third out and Nimmo homers in the 2nd, so that's good, at least.)

Also, I didn't know that Paul Blackburn was on the Impaired List (I thought perhaps he wasn't in the rotation because he's…Paul Blackburn), but he is. As noted in the article linked above, he started throwing yesterday, and may be ready to pitch when his 15 days are over.

(Damn, getting that image to show up was tough. Meanwhile, Lindor got his first hit of the season [RBI single] and tied things up.)
