Massie Hits 18th Home Run, Leads Jays to Win

Mike Massie powered the Toronto Blue Jays to a win over the Montreal Expos. The final score was 6-1. The Toronto designated hitter, who led the EL in slugging percentage with .634 in 2019, was phenomenal. He stroked 2 extra-base hits, including 1 home run and 1 double. Montreal has now lost 6 consecutive games.

Toronto manager Art Tierney commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."

Sam Griffin(R, 7-5 4.31) - Walt Laidlaw(R, 2-8 5.51) tomorrow. Someone is going to lower his ERA tomorrow… and it’s not Sam.

Blue Jays Walk It Off for 32nd Win of Season

The Toronto Blue Jays downed the Montreal Expos, 5-3, at Skydome. Oscar Vargas led the way, going 2-for-3 for Toronto. Toronto pitcher Allen Spahn got the win, upping his record to 4-1. Kevin Cowden got the loss. Today's win puts Toronto at 32-43, while Montreal falls to 30-46.

The game was decided with two out in the bottom of the ninth. With Toronto trailing 3-1, Vargas jumped on a fastball from fireballing right-hander Kevin Cowden and hit a grand slam home run to right-center. With one swing, the Blue Jays had a walk-off win.

"This place was rockin'," said Vargas. The 2019 World Series winner is batting .241-5-28 .633OPS 0.2WAR in 56 games.

Dan Hinton(R, 4-5 3.96) - Julian Valdenas(L, 8-5 4.22) tomorrow. Solid lefty that isn’t going to win awards, but does his job.
