Going the distance...
Yet another classic in what will go down as one of the best World Series of all-time (now watch Game 7 be a blowout) as the Rays edged Pittsburgh 4-3 to force a winner-take-all game tomorrow. Having struggled to get a key hit through much of this series and much of the evening after the first, Jose Machado doubled with two out in the 8th and scored on Paul Mayes' RBI single for the winner, and Jake Cid and Mario Berumen tag-teamed their way through the 9th to preserve the season-saving win. It looked like the Rays might be on their way to laugher after getting 3 in the first including back-to-back jacks from Jesus Avalos (finally his first of the postseason) and Vinny Colon, but Pittsburgh chipped away at Steve Swords and it became a battle of wills once again. So it's all on the line tomorrow with Elijah Whitaker, who will hope to pitch better than his mixed bag of a Game 3 start.
