2022 Week 13 Part 2

After a little delay as my car broke down two days ago and I had to do some extra at work today, we are back to Canada's finest losers

Week 13: 3@ Toronto Blue Jays(30-42), 3@ Los Angeles Angels(37-37)

July 1st

Angels Best Expos in Pitching Duel

In a low-scoring affair between the Los Angeles Angels and the Montreal Expos, pitcher Julian Valdenas was the difference between victory and defeat. The Los Angeles left-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 2-1 Angels win, working 6.1 innings of 1-run ball. Trevor Hoag was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 18 of 20 save opportunities. The win gives Los Angeles a season record of 40-38.

Los Angeles took a 2-1 lead on Martin Cutelos's 4th home run of the season. The solo home run, which Cutelos hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Montreal pitcher Dan Hinton visibly frustrated.

Cutelos said his team "played with focus." He is batting .282-4-14 .845OPS 0.7WAR in 19 games.

Marty Murrietta(R, 6-6 4.56) - Alberto Vilchis(L, 6-5 4.44) tomorrow. Another lefty, not that it matters.

Vilchis Now 7-5 After Subduing Expos

The Los Angeles Angels locked up a win at Angel Stadium of Anaheim, knocking off the Montreal Expos, 4-0. On the mound for Los Angeles was left-hander Alberto Vilchis. He played a major role in the triumph. Los Angeles has rattled off 4 straight wins.

In his 89-pitch effort, Vilchis allowed no runs on 3 hits over 6 innings. He walked 1 and struck out 10.

"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Vilchis said after the game.

Austin Roy(R, 3-8 4.22) - Hector Ontiveros(R, 3-1 2.34) tomorrow. That’s a sweep I guess…

July 3rd

Angels Lose at Home, 2-1

In a low-scoring contest between the Montreal Expos and the Los Angeles Angels, Austin Roy was the X factor. The Montreal right-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. In 7.2 innings, Roy surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Kevin Cowden recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 16 for 19.

Montreal used the hitting of Robby Weltzer to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Expos on top, 2-0. For the game, Weltzer had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats. He is batting .303-5-25 .753OPS 2.1WAR in 71 games.

Montreal manager Aaron McCreery commended his team for exhibiting "no shortage of effort."

The Expos raised their record to 31-48.

Jessie Dittus(R, 4-3 3.44) - Sam Griffin(R, 8-5 4.22) tomorrow. How Sam got those 8 wins still is a mystery for me…

Good boy Austin. Limit the others to one run every game, and you may win some? Difficult, you say? Then talk to those incompetent fools that are batting for you.

We started shuffling the lineup around to get the hot batters in the top 5 spots more, dropping Talbert down the order to accommodate for his struggling. Did not help as Bemavides now went cold and we still lack power. Time for a 7-game losing streak at home so that the fan interest drops more…
