Jimmy Foxx may be heading for a 3rd straight National League MVP award. He's second in the NL batting race and leads the NL with 45 home runs with couple weeks left to play in the 1963 season. Meanwhile, the Pittsburgh Pirates are looking to go from last place in 62 to NL champions in 1963. The Pirates drafted Wade Boggs with their 1st pick reward for stinking last year. Boggs has paid immediate dividends by hitting well above .300 all year at the top of their lineup. Duke Snider in his third season has also helped the Pirates find the top of the standings.
The AL is once again in the control of the Hank Aaron led Boston Red Sox. Aaron isn't hitting as many home runs in 63, but he's once again hitting above .300 and is driving in a lot of runs.
