His entire career as a player , big league coach and minor league manager is a testament to a positive attitude and perseverance. 1300 plus minor league wins as a manager and more importantly he is well respected as a mentor and as a baseball man,
Mike Jirschele had three brothers who all succumbed to Muscular Dystrophy in their forties. Mike was spared this relentless affliction and became a successful athlete playing baseball and football at the University of Wisconsin and spending 50 years in a baseball life. He is currently manager of the Omaha Storm Chasers in his 17th season as manager. A tenure interrupted by coaching stints for the Kansas City Royals . Jirschele was the thirdbase coach on their 2015 World Series winner.
