It is a seventh post season match up as the White Sox upset the Tigers and set up a rematch of the 2041 ALDS.
The White Sox went 89-73 basing their success on the starting pitching which ranked 4th in the American League. Former Cy Young winner Josh Webb won 19 games with a 2.77 ERA and he is backed up by three more right handed pitchers, with Rob Cope and T.J. Nooks both young and developing elite arms. Former Royal Flossy Giordano is the star of their bullpen and he recorded 38 saves with a 2.95 ERA, walking over 4 per 9, but also striking out over 14/9.
DH Mike Easterling led the team with a .295 average and is at the heart of the team, alongside 2B Herb Savard (38 HRs, 95 RBI) and 1B Mike Kotwica (.274, 23 HRs).
The Royals took the regular season series 8-5 and so will look to continue that record.
