CBA News

We are pushing back the CBA update to the end of the season on April 14 since all standings and league leaders have held serve. Be on the lookout for the final analysis and playoff preview.

CBO Preview

PAM is back! That means it is opening day of what we anticipate to be a great season with no clear favorite on our end. PAM may have different opinions, but we will break down what those are.

It is also noted that PAM has tried to calculate the "raised mound" as it has been introduced, something Commissioner Nate Howard has instituted to try to give balance to the hitter-pitcher dynamic. Vice Commissioner Jimmy LaRue is the supposed mastermind behind the new rule, and we will all wait to see what the 2315 season brings us in terms of results. We can see that PAM has predicted runs scored to be way down, and the top home run hitter in the CBO is predicted to have 30. Enough of that, though. What people really care about is which team will be on top at the end of the season.

By PAM's predictions, the Brotherhood League will be the tightest race with the defending champions, The Slog Ghouls, predicted to finish tied with Salem. Based on run differential, the Ghouls would clinch the BL. Atop the Institute League, PAM has Lexington not only winning the league but doing so in dominant fashion with a 12-game advantage over second-place Fort Hagen.

Looking at the predictions for playoff rankings, PAM has the following NCA order:

1. Lexington 81-49
2. The Slog 71-59
3. Salem 71-59
4. Fort Hagen 69-61
5. Malden 66-64
6. Cambridge 66-64

In the SCA, there is more of a balance in 2315. The 2315 runners-up, the Quincy Gunners, are the pick to win the Minutemen League with a four-game advantage over both Atom and University Point. Vault 81 is again expected to dominate in the Railroad League with an 11-game league margin and the CBO's top record. Here are the predicted SCA playoff rankings:

1. Vault 81 85-45
2. Quincy 72-58
3. Diamond City 74-56
4. Oberland 70-60
5. Glowing Sea 69-61
6. Atom 68-62

That means PAM has a likely Sole Survivor Series matchup of Lexington versus Vault 81. We guess we will believe it when we see it for the Dwellers, but we will just interpret that as a championship for them in 2315.

Looking at predictions for top hitter in each association, PAM has Easy Town's Eden Babz leading the NCA, followed by contenders Lance Tinter (Malden), Slammin' Sammy Holloway (Nordhagen Beach), Hurr Lee Reyes (Lexington), and Campy Madrid (Lexington). In the SCA, PAM thinks Enigma Montgomery of the Glowing Sea will be the batting title champion. Other contenders are Pockets Wrench (Vault 81), Missile Crews (FHE), Odd Todd Walker (Oberland), and Jay Gabby (Goodneighbor).

The top pitcher prediction in the NCA is Salem's Paul Stains, followed by Flirt Perez (The Slog), Dee Dee Martinson (Lexington), the comeback king Lonely Gale (Easy Town), and Scooter Yaghmour (Cambridge). Heaven Fontenot of Diamond City is the top pick in the SCA, with other top contenders being Aqua Purified (Spectacle Island), Ahsoka Tano (Oberland), Zack Million (Vault 81), and Macho Lopez (Diamond City).

Gale was mentioned because he is returning from a 2312 injury while with Nahant in his premier season as a full-time starter. He was 1-2 with a 1.61 in four starts before he suffered a ligament separation so severe that the Institute got involved to try to repair his arm. He elected not to have a synth-based implant since it would prevent him from being allowed to make a comeback. Instead, Gale has been rehabbing and working with medical staff. He refused to play before being CBO-ready, so here he is, three years later. While scouts are not sold on his ability to be anywhere close to his 2312 form, PAM has given him the benefit of the doubt.
