Cards news: August 25 -- Sprained finger will sideline SS Winn, Fermin called up from AAA
The St. Louis Cardinals have placed shortstop Masyn Winn on the 10-day injured list after he suffered a sprained finger while making a defensive play during a 7-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays on August 25.
The 23-year-old Winn is expected to miss up to three weeks.
In 116 games/115 starts this season, Winn has batted .248 with eight home runs, 42 RBIs and 50 runs scored.
Getting called up from AAA Memphis is 26-year-old middle infielder Jose Fermin.
Ferman has spent the entire season with the Redbirds where he has hit .273 with nine home runs, 36 RBIs and 49 runs scored in 88 games/80 starts.
Fermin has 66 games/29 starts of MLB experience, all with the Cardinals.
In those games, he has hit .189 with no home runs, eight RBIs and nine runs scored.
