The Red Sox out hit and arguably out pitched the visiting Phillies, yet at the end of the day it was the red-hot Philadelphia Phillies (45-22) extend their winning streak to 10 games with the 1 to 0 victory over the Boston Red Sox (36-32).
Picking up the win was Philly starter Ranger Suarez (6-5) who tossed 8 2/3 innings of shutout ball in which he scattered 8 hits and 3 walks while striking out 6; Game Score 71. Jose Alvarado (SV 21) worked the final out of the game to record the save. At the plate, Brandon Marsh (2 for 3, Double, RBI) and J.T. Realmuto (1 for 3, Run) played well in victory.
Garrett Whitlock (3-5) was tagged with the loss despite allowing just 1 earned run on 5 hits and 1 walk while striking out 11 in 7 2/3 innings of play; Game Score 75. Nick Pivetta worked 1/3 of an inning in scoreless fashion before Liam Hendriks tossed a scoreless / hitless final inning. For Boston, Pablo Reyes (3 for 4, Stolen Base), Tristan Casas (1 for 2, 2 Walks), Masataka Yoshida (2 for 4), and Rafael Devers (1 for 4, Double) saw the ball well today.
