CBO Analysis
We are 13 games into the 2315 CBO season with some teams already possessing huge leads over others. While it is never too late for a team to surge or falter, there are signs that some storylines are afoot. Two teams atop the CBO power rankings already have 10 victories, while another two already have more than 10 losses. Here are the Power Rankings:

Brotherhood League
The largest league lead is here with the team tied for the CBO's top record, Nahant, holding a nine-game lead over the team with the CBO's worst record, Nordhagen Beach. Second through sixth include Salem at two back, The Slog and Malden at four back, and County Crossing and Easy Town at five back. We will have more about the Bloodbugs in the Noteworthy News section.
But first, let's break down the disaster that has been the Nordhagen Beach regular season up to this point. First of all, the Party Boys looked as though they were back in the Nuka Cup Tournament, advancing all the way to the semifinals before succumbing to Atom, the eventual Nuka Cup champions. However, the regular season did not remain on that high. In fact, the Boys started 0-9 before a 9th-inning rally of five runs helped them to defeat the Ghouls, 8-5. Six of the 12 losses have been by two runs or fewer, including three extra-inning losses. There was also that 18-0 loss to the Celtics. Nordhagen Beach made a panic move, too, dumping SP Beachboy Nut and SS Pipe Wallcrawler for four Diamond City prospects and a 2nd-round pick. We feel as though more veterans will end up getting dumped for a complete rebuild.
Institute League
The other team tied atop the CBO's standings, Fort Hagen, also has a large lead over the last-place Starlight Killers, whose 0-9 start matched the Boys. Teams in the middle of the league are Concord at two back, Lexington at three back, Bunker Hill at four back, and Sunshine Tidings and Cambridge at five back.
The Silver Shroud have been on fire to start the season with a combination of good hitting and pitching. The Shroud are 2nd in the BL in runs scored (69) and runs allowed (46). While their home run production (tied for 10th with nine) has not been great, Fort Hagen is 1st in batting average (.300). Most of that high average is thanks to the outstanding start for C Malificent Shaw (.556/1/12). Unfortunately for the Shroud, 3B Diamond Ball (.219/2/7) was injured by a frag grenade and will miss the rest of the regular season. On the mound, 34-year-old Nuke Laloosh (0-2, 6.97) has been the only pitcher struggling, while La'Ray Kalel (3-0, 2.82), Sarthis Idren (3-0, 1.16), and Clubhouse Treelover (2-1, 2.55) have been dominant.
Minutemen League
In the ML, there is a jumble so far with four games separating 1st from 7th. Quincy and Spectacle Island are atop the league, while Atom (one back), University Point (two back), Southie and Jamaica Plain (three back), and Goodneighbor (four back) round out the league standings.
Atom, coming off the Nuka Cup Tournament championship, has won four straight (tied for 2nd best in the CBO behind the Reapers' seven-game streak) to plant themselves just behind the Gunners and Spectacle Island. Part of that success has been to the crazy hot start of C Tawfiq Kibowen (.359/8/19), the CBO's homers and RBI leader, among other statistics. The next closest in homers is five, shared by three players. RF Candy Kline (.292/4/11) has also contributed to the power of the SCA's second-best home run hitting team (18). Ace Doug Creep (3-0, 2.76) has paced the SCA's second-best starting rotation (3.18 ERA).
Railroad League
Always listed last, but hardly ever a weak league, the RL also has a four-game gap from 1st through 4th. Oberland is atop, followed by Glowing Sea and Vault 81 at one back, Roxburty at two back, FHE at three back, and Egret and Diamond City at four back. The Swatters have benefited from the acquisition of Nut, whose pitching has contributed to two of their five victories and a 5-5 mark since the trade.
The T-51s may be atop the RL right now, but we are not expecting them to stay there once the Dwellers warm up. For now, their offense (80 runs, 2nd in SCA) has carried them. SS Stormin Normin MacDonald (.429/2/12) has powered the machine, along with veteran C Racky Westheim (,.342/1/5). Pitching has not been as good, not counting ace Ahsoka Tano (3-0, 2.25), who has carried the team 9th in runs allowed (61) and 11th in Starters ERA (5.20). The other three starters have to pitch better for the T-51s to maintain this win rate.
CBO Standings
CBO Players of the Week
April 12 - His critics are starting to suggest that Nahant's Edward Cox doesn't have much left, but the 36-year-old Cox prefers not to think that way. He cooked up a remarkable week in the last seven days, topping it off with the Player of the Week Award in the North Charles Association.
The veteran right fielder for the Celtics rolled to a .500 average (12-for-24) with 2 home runs and 8 RBIs.
Stormin Normin MacDonald must have thought he was dreaming. First he went on an exceptional week-long batting spree, bashing the ball at a .536 clip, then the Oberland shortstop finds out he has been chosen the league's best performer and gets the SCA Player of the Week Award.
He told BNN reporters in the postgame, "It was a great week for me. I could see the ball so well. Plus some of the balls seemed to have good eyes, too."
For the week MacDonald batted .536 (15-for-28) with 1 home run and 9 RBIs.
April 19 - His hard work and hustle paid off this week. The hard-working and hard-playing Malificent Shaw was rewarded with the North Charles Association Player of the Week honors.
The scrappy Fort Hagen Silver Shroud catcher hit .571 while collecting 12 hits in 21 at-bats, no home runs and 6 RBIs.
A veteran of baseball wars, Baywatch Fischler knows how to stay with a stroke that's working for him. The 36-year-old right fielder for the Gunners batted .600 last week on his way to the South Charles Association Player of the Week award.
His noteworthy week also featured 12 hits in 20 at-bats, no home runs, 6 RBIs and 9 runs scored.
CBO Noteworthy News
19 April - The County Crossing Bloodbugs franchise is in mourning today for the owner, Doc Weathers. He passed away after a brief illness yesterday at Medford Memorial Hospital. Team spokesmen, speaking anonymously, told reporters that his son, Apollo Weathers, would take charge of running the team. Inside sources said that the younger Weathers would be lenient in management style and penny-pinching in financial matters.
April 7-19 - Retirement News: Several CBO greats have already announced that the 2315 season will be their last as a player. That list includes RF Tomas Jones, SP Gavin Eviritts, RP Vince McCort, P Aaron Somer, C Biter Trout, and IF Wally Warwick.
11 April - The league is investigating the circumstances behind Diamond Ball's injury. Ball was injured from a blast from a frag grenade that sent shrapnel into a group gathered outside of the F-T-H Pour House bar. It is not suspected that Ball was the target, but the Fort Hagen settlement is concerned that it could be a raider attack.
