MLB news: Sept. 25 -- Diamondbacks are champions of NL West
With a 10-7 victory over the defending World Series-champion Los Angeles Dodgers, the Arizona Diamondbacks have clinched the National League West Division championship.
The win improved the D'backs to 84-73, putting them six games in front of the second-place Colorado Rockies with five games left in the regular season.
Arizona will be the No.3 seed in the NL playoffs as it trails fellow division winners the Atlanta Braves (99-59) and Chicago Cubs (95-61) by significant margins.
The postseason berth is the first for the D'backs since 2023 when it lost in the World Series to the Texas Rangers.
Arizona last won the World Series in 2001, when it defeated the New York Yankees.
