MLB news: Sept. 28 -- Mariners will make return to postseason
With a 2-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Seattle Mariners have been assured they will be back in the American League playoffs for the first time since 2022.
At 87-73, the Mariners sit two games ahead of the Texas Rangers with two games remaining in the regular season.
Seattle owns an 8-5 edge in regular-season play, which would give it the advantage should the division end in a tie.
Seattle has never reached the World Series.
