Despite a 5-0 loss to the Miami Marlins, the New York Mets have clinched the final wild-card berth in the National League playoffs.
With an 81-79 record, the Mets sit well behind the National League East Division leading Atlanta Braves.
The Braves 101-59 record is easily the best in the NL.
With two-games left, the Mets sit two games behind the St. Louis Cardinals for the No. 2 wild card.
The Mets will be in the postseason for the second straight year and the third time in four seasons.
New York last made the World Series in 2015, when it lost to the Kansas City Royals.
The Mets last won the World Series in 1986, downing the Boston Red Sox in seven games.
