Expos Win Opener, 4-2
The home crowd had a good time watching the
Boston Aeros and
Montreal Expos get after it.
Montreal Expos starter
Marty Murrietta found his groove in his team's 4-2 win over the
Boston Aeros. He pitched 5.2 innings of 2-run ball.
Adam Rudolph, credited with the save, is now 21 for 24 in save opportunities.
Ian Messer had a big run-scoring double for the
Expos in the bottom of the fourth inning. With
Montreal leading 3-2 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from fan favorite
Jordan Arroyo and swatted a double to left. It was his 20th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the
Expos ahead, 4-2. He is batting .277-6-26 .767OPS 1.0WAR in 65 games after a number of IL stints.
Montreal manager Aaron McCreery commended his team for exhibiting "no shortage of effort."

Aeros Beat Expos As Defence Collapses
Good production from center fielder
Tony Munoz helped the
Boston Aeros topple the
Montreal Expos, 8-5.
Munoz was 2-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the
Aeros. The winner in relief was
A.J. Pinkerton. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. He now owns a record of 2-0. Today's win puts
Boston at 82-73, while
Montreal falls to 77-78.
With
Boston leading 1-0 in the top of the fourth,
Munoz hit a sinker from
Dan Hinton for a 2-run double. It was his 20th double of the season and put the
Aeros ahead, 3-0. He is batting .237-17-68 .663OPS 1.8WAR in 143 games.
"We came out aggressive," said
Aeros manager Tony Rodriguez. "We came out swinging the bats." Adding to the misery, four unearned runs were scored off
Dan Hinton as shortstop
Franklin Reyes dropped a routine grounder that would’ve been the final out of the inning.

Aeros Nip Expos, 3-2
Boston pitcher
Tyrese Speed did his part in helping his team defeat the
Montreal Expos, 3-2. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. He worked six innings of 2-run ball.
"
Tyrese gets tougher when he has to, makes a big pitch when he has to," said
Boston skipper Tony Rodriguez. The
Aeros improved their record to 83-73 by beating
Montreal.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop
Tim Kessler came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing
Montreal pitcher
Adam Rudolph, he hit a 1-2 curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting
Boston on top, 3-2. The 25-year old is batting .283-15-59 .741OPS 5.2WAR in 143 games.

Blue Jays Win, 9-1, in Dominant Fashion
Montreal had no answer for 23-year old right-handed pitcher
Brendan Lucas. The
Toronto Blue Jays starter stymied
Expos hitters, helping the
Blue Jays cruise to victory, 9-1.
Lucas, the winner, moves to 14-7. He threw 8.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 1 walk.
"
Brendan was hitting his spots and everything had life," said
Toronto manager Art Tierney.
Toronto has now won 4 games in a row.
The
Blue Jays benefited from an error in the bottom of the first inning.
Toronto was leading 1-0 when
Paul Ludgate hit a 2-run single that was misplayed. It put
Toronto in front, 3-0. He is batting .242-10-56 .656OPS 0.7WAR in 117 games.

Joe Herzer, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the
Blue Jays a 3-2 lead. The backup catcher is batting .257-10-34 .767OPS 0.8WAR in 71 games.
