Grizzles Hammer Expos As Hinton Leaves Injured
The
Philadelphia Grizzlies topped the
Montreal Expos, 10-1, in Eastern League action at Olympic Stadium. The standout performance belonged to
Philadelphia pitcher and San Carlos, Venezuela, native Ruben Torrez.
Torrez yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 0, and struck out 7. His record improves to 9-6.
The win elevated the
Grizzlies to 86-74. "
Ruben was able to execute his pitches," said
Philadelphia manager Pat Pierce. "Simple as that." The
Montreal Expos got a little injury scare as ace starter
Dan Hinton had to leave with what lucky only was a
mild oblique strain.
With two out in the top of the seventh,
Jesus Maradiaga had a game-changing hit. The
Grizzlies left fielder slammed a 2-run single off
Freddy Silva, making the score 5-1,
Philadelphia. He is batting .265-21-58 .795OPS 0.9WAR in 125 games.

Adam Rudolph earned his 22nd save in 25 chances. The setback makes
