VALKA FRESHMAN SENSATION KARU COPS RU GOLDEN ARM TROPHY
The Valka Blackhawks have a rising superstar or maybe even a budding Hall-of-Famer in the making. It's Margus Karu, this year's Ruthlandian Union Golden Arm Award selection. This blossoming rookie hurler wowed fans, peers and sportswriters with a fabulous performance. Just 19 years old, Karu had an amazing freshman season. He was a vital part of the Blackhawks' second-place finish in the Ruthlandian South Division.
Karu compiled a 19-8 record in 30 starts, tallied 149 strikeouts in 250 innings and recorded a 2.01 ERA. Other clubs managed only a .194 batting average against him. Karu hurled 7 shutouts and completed 20 of his 30 starting assignments. He topped the Ruthlandian Union and the IPA in shutouts and ERA.
Shannon Slate (19-10/2.52 ERA/241 IP) of the Forest City Firebirds finished second in voting, while Nicky Parrado (19-9/2.60 ERA/267 IP) of the Grand City Cybercats finished third.
