CYL Season Ends; Boston Common, Jamaica Plain as #1 Seeds
The dust has cleared from the regular season pennant chase and the clubs that survived are getting ready to do battle in the 2315 Commonwealth Youth League playoffs. Only the strong survive to play for the Youth Series championship. It's the playoffs -- a very special time to baseball fans everywhere -- and they start in just a few days.
"Baseball is a marathon," or so the saying goes. But once the Commonwealth Youth League playoffs start today, it's a sprint to the finish. One false move, one errant miscue, one pressure-packed flub will end your team's chances of winning the title. It could be over in a moment. On the other hand, one swing of the bat or a fastball blown by the last hitter could just as easily send your team parading down Main Street, hoisting a 24-carat gold-studded Youth Series trophy before an adoring crowd. The contending ballclubs are all poised and ready -- the playoffs begin today with several Regional Opening Round showdowns:

Coventry's SP Gael Walker (11-0, 1.88, 4.2 WAR) may be the top overall pitcher in 2315, but there is a much greater spread in statistical leaders, including Old Lyme's Wing Kawolski with a CYL-best 6.3 WAR. In the NR, Diamond City's Sequester Grundelplith MD (9-3, 2.95, 5.2 WAR) was the WAR leader.
