May 4-6, 2057: at Cleveland (3)
Game 1: Aaron White had a big game and the Rays held on to defeat Cleveland 6-4 in the opener at Progressive Field. The second-sacker had three hits including a double and a big 2-run homer (#3) which put them up 4-1 in the 5th and Henry Dominguez added a 2-run shot (#6) in the 6th that proved to be the difference. Jorge Barraza (3-4) was solid at 6.2 4 3 3 1 4 but Devin Tadlock made a meal of it in the 9th, giving up a run and loading the bases before fanning the final Guardian for a shaky 6th save.
Game 2: The Rays were taken the woodshed in the second game, blown out to the tune of 10-2. They scored a run in the top of the 1st for Elijah Whitaker (4-2) but the young righty didn't have it today, finishing 4 8 6 6 4 4.
Game 3: Tampa Bay took the rubber game from Cleveland behind yet another impeccable outing from Dave Rose and they romped 9-2 over Cleveland. Rose improved to 5-1, 1.35 after a 7 5 0 0 0 9 performance and he had plenty of support. Jesus Avalos was 3-5 with a 2-run homer (#6), Vinny Colon went yard (#11) with a man on in the 1st and Alex Gonzales was 3-4 with 2 ribbies.
Team record: 25-10, 6 up on now-second place Toronto. Next up: The road trip continues with 3 in Baltimore.
