Unfortunately, the Mets won one more game than we did, so they get home field. Sid Fernandez is out 1 more week, but I have him on the playoff roster. He could be back for game 5 out of the pen. We will go with Hitchcock/Cone/Novoa/Hawkins against Joe Price/Greg Harris/Ken Pellien/Randy Green.
The Mets are a well-rounded offensive team with 4 players (Dave Nilsson/Frank Thomas/Roberto Alomar/Matt Williams) with at least a 5 WAR. The other 4, however are all below 2.5, so if we can control the big guys, I don't think their 5-8 can beat us.
Ellis Valentine and Glenn Wilson have been great 10 year vets, but I have to go with the rookie .384 hitter, don't I? Yes, it's only been 84 AB's, but his WAR equalled Valentine's and Wilson for the whole year, so we will see how he does as the lead off man. No pressure.
I'll have to play Fred Lynn out of position in right to accommodate that, so our defense will take a hit, but I think we need the bats in the lineup.
