KARNES COLLECTS 6 HITS & 6 RBI VS KEYSTONE
QUEEN VILLAGE CF PUTS IN PERFORMANCE OF THE SEASON; TEAMMATE BROWN SCORES 7 TIMES

PHILADELPHIA (June 4, 1873) – It was quite an afternoon for Queen Village, who battered Keyston B.C. at the friendly confines of Fitzwater Park just after lunch on Wednesday:

What was a level game after two innings became a rout by the end of the 4th, as Queen Village scored eleven runs over their two times to bat to turn a 3-3 tie into a 14-5 laugher. The hosts added runs from there to exit the game winners by fourteen.

There were three star performers for Queen Village on the afternoon. First was leadoff man Lawrence Bosley:

• QV #1 Lawrence Bosley (RF): 4/7, 2B, 5 R, 3 RBI, SB, 5 TB, 76 GMSC

Second was 2B Jeoffrey Brown:

• QV #2 Jeoffrey Brown (2B): 4/6, 2B, 7 R, 3 RBI, BB, 5 TB, 99 GMSC

Brown’s seven runs scored was the first such occurrence in a nine-inning game anywhere in organized baseball in just over three years, when Walter Williams completed the feat for Atlantic in the NBBO on May 25th, 1870.

Finally, the Player of the Game was CF Robert Karnes:
• B1: Fly Out to RF
• B2: 1-run Double to RCF off J. Testerman
• B3: 2-run Single to RF off J. Testerman
• B4: 2-run Triple to RF off W. Willard (R)
• B5: 1-run Single to CF off J. Willis
• B7: Single past !B off J. Willis
• B8: Single past 2B off J. Willis (R)
• TOTAL: 6/7, 2B, 3B, 2 R, 6 RBI, 9 TB, 100 GMSC
Karnes is batting .388 for Queen Village through sixteen games of the inaugural PCBL season, with 23 RBI.
