HOYT PLAYS HERO AS N.Y.A.C. WINS AT MUTUAL
4X ALL-STAR COLLECTS 6 HITS & 5 RBI AS SEVENTH-INNING RALLY PROVES PIVOTAL
NEW YORK CITY (June 27, 1873) – Surging New York Athletic Club took on Mutual at the Union Armory Grounds on Friday afternoon, and the result was N.Y.A.C.’s fifth consecutive victory:
The visitors had a relatively easy time of it, as they had an 11-3 lead after seven innings before Mutual mounted rallies that came too late to affect the result. The star of the day was the man who had nearly half of their hits and drove in nearly half of their runs: 4x All-Star OF & 1B James Hoyt.• T1: Single to CF off G. Layman

• TOTAL: 6/6 (all 1B), 2 R, 5 RBI, 90 GMSC Hoyt, now in his fourteenth season in the NBBO, is batting .283 (.672 OPS) with 25 RBI through 33 games for N.Y.A.C., who went alone into 1st place in the New York City Championship with their win at the Union Armory on Friday.
The loss brought Mutual down to 14-19, which sees them in 7th place but still only six games behind the new leaders.
